PROTECTOR - REANIMATED HOMUNCULUS

I am listening to Thrash Metal since 1990 and in 23 years, Protector is the only band that I am attached their music by passion. Surely there are so many other bands and albums in my collection but the place of Protector is always higher. After releasing the album 'The Heritage' in 1993, the band buried into a deep silence but their name was somehow still on the scene with the exertion of the past members. You may see the details on the CD booklet of 'Reanimated Homunculus'. Then the year 2013 is the reborn of the band from their own ashes.

Few years ago, original vocal Martin Missy created a Protector cover band with some gifted musicians who has the Thrash Metal spirit inside. After many live shows under the name 'Martin Missy and the Protectors', one day they announced that they will go on their music career as Protector. I was really excited with this news but inside my mind, there were some question marks about the music that the new members will create as Protector. Surely they are playing the songs well which were written before they joined the band. When they write new songs, will that be Protector music? At this point, my eyes turned to Martin. If this will be Protector, than the experience of the only original member who is on the front line was very importand. As a fan, I trusted Martin and I just simply started to wait.

You never know how much I excited when they announced the releasing date of the new album and shared the album cover art on the internet. This should be one of the best Protector album cover art in bands history. 'Reanimated Homunculus' was screaming like 'Pre order me before I am released !!!!' Finally the album released. LP verion has black, blue and white splatter on blue vinyl. As the collectors know, the blue with white splatter version is very limited as 100 copies and it is the most precious one. I shouldn't pre order the LP some how so I missed the chance to have that version. I selected the black one then. Ordered the CD and LP both. I was so excited when the high protected box arrived.

I immediately started to listen the album from the CD version. Actually I wasn't expecting that I will recognize the music that fast when I am listening it for the very first time. I thought that I should listen to it few more times. I was wrong. This is a real Protector album. I know what I hear. I even thought that if the songs may be written by the original crew. Then I understood that this is something about the spirit. If you understand the spirit, then you do the right thing. Martin and his crew recorded the best old school Thrash Metal album of the year. You can't think in other way while the great reviews are coming from all around the world. If this reborn goes on as it started, Protector will rise to the place that they deserved in the Thrash Metal league. I know I used the word 'Excited' so many times in this review but I can't change the truth. Hail Protector !!!!

1990 yılından beri Thrash Metal dinliyorum ve geçen 23 yıl boyunca albümlerine tutkuyla bağlı olduğum tek grup Protector oldu. Elbet daha bir çok grup var koleksiyonumda albümleri olan ama Protector'un yeri her zaman başka oldu. 1993 yılında yayınlanan 'The Heritage' sonrası derin bir sessizliğe bürünen grup, içinde barındırdığı üyelerin kişisel çabalarıyla zaman, zaman tekrar gündeme geldi. Detayları 'Reanimated Homunculus' albümünün CD kitapçığında okuyabilirsiniz. 2013 yılı ise, grubun adeta küllerinden doğduğu yıl oldu.

Bundan bir kaç yıl evel, grubun orijinal solisti Martin Missy, Thrash Metal tarzına hakim, tecrübeli üyelerden bir Protector cover grubu kurdu. Uzun süre 'Martin Missy and the Protectors' adı altında sahne alan grup, daha sonra verdikleri bir konserde müzik çalışmalarına 'Protector' adı altında devam edeceklerini duyurdular. Bu haberi aldığımda gerçekten çok heyecanlanmıştım. Gel gör ki, yeni üyelerin ortaya koyacağı müziğin nasıl olacağı konusunda aklımda soru işaretleri oluşmuştu. Grup üyeleri şüphesiz Protector'un kendilerinden önce yazılan şarkılarına fazlasıyla hakimdiler. Peki kendilerinden yeni şarkılar yazmaları istendiğinde ortaya koyacakları ürün Protector olacak mıydı? Bu noktada gözler Martin'e dönüyordu. Eğer bu grup gerçek bir Protector olacaksa, başlarında olanın konuya tecrübesi çok önemliydi. Bir hayran olarak kendisine güvenim sonsuz olduğundan rahatça arkama yaslanıp beklemeye koyuldum.

Albümün kapak resmi ve yayınlanacağı tarih açıklandığında ne kadar heyecanlandığımı olduğumu bilemezsiniz. Grubun tarihindeki en güzel kapak resimlerinden birisi bu olmalıydı. 'Reanimated Homunculus' daha yayınlanmadan beni sipariş et diye bağırıyordu adeta. Nihayetinde albüm yayınlandı. Plak sürümü siyah, mavi ve mavi üzerine beyaz sıçrama efektli olarak piyasaya sürüldü. Koleksiyoncuların tahmin edeceği üzere, mavi üzerine beyaz sıçrama efektli olan sürüm en az basılan ve koleksiyon değeri en yüksek olandı. Nedendir bilinmez, ön siparişe yetişme fırsatım olmadı ve daha satışa konulur konuşmaz tükenen bu sürümde edinemedim. Geriye kalan mavi ve siyah arasından siyah olanı seçtim. CD ve LP sürümlerini sipariş ettim. İçinde para varmış gibi sağlam korunmuş bir karton pakette gelen ürünler elime ulaştığında artık heyecandan yerimde duramıyordum. 

CD'yi hemen müzik setine koyup dinlemeye başladım. Açıkçası bu kadar hızlı algılanabileceğini tahmin etmemiştim müziğin. Anlamak için bir kaç kez dinlemem gerekir diye düşünmüştüm. Yanılmışım. Bu albüm, gerçek bir Protecor albümü. Grubun albümlerinin tümü ezberimde olduğundan, duyduğumda bunun ne olduğunu hemen anlayabilirim. 'İşte bu Protector!' dedim kendi kendime. Öyle ki çalınan müzik, orijinal üyeler tarafından yazılmış gibiydi. O zaman anladım. Bu bir ruh. Eğer o ruhu yakalarsan olması gerekeni yansıtabiliyorsun. Martin ve ekibi bence yılın Thrash Metal albümüne imza atmışlar. Dünyanın her yerinden övgüler yağarken bunun aksini düşünmek nasıl olabilir ki? Eğer bu yeni yükseliş başladığı gibi devam ederse, Protector, Thrash Metal liginde hak ettiği zirveye kısa sürede tırmanır.
